Introducing myself

Dear Friends in the Latin American Network,

It is a pleasure to be part of this great group of people. Thanks to all those who helped create this network that holds so much potential. I will take this occasion to tell you a bit about myself.

I am Colombian, and a third year MBA/Environmental Management and Policy student at FES/SOM. I have worked in local government in my native city Bogota in a sustainable neighborhoods program based on my senior thesis called "Ecobarrios" ("Econeighborhoods"). I then joined Ashoka, an international non profit in the USA supporting the work of social entrepreneurs. I was one of Ashoka’s representatives at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in South Africa. Then, I led Market Research of the environment sector in India and in the Andean Region (Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, and Peru). Most recently, I worked for the Ministry of Environment, on the implementation of international environmental treaties of Biodiversity, Climate Change and Desertification. In my summers during school I interned in a grassroots organization in Peru called “Environmental Entrepreneurship Group” (Grupo de Emprendimientos Ambientales, Grupo GEA) where I did monitoring and evaluation work, and in “ShoreBank International” in Washington DC and in Morocco, where I worked on housing finance for slum communities.

Many things interest me these days, as I have diversified to include not only environment but development topics. I find great promise in green businesses, and other ways to combine environment, business and development.
I am eager to learn more about what you do, your interests, and how we can work together!

Affectionately,

Anamaria Aristizabal
