Antony G. Marcil joined FSC Canada in 2005 bringing a combination of private sector marketing and non-profit fundraising experience to the FSC mission, which is the promotion of environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of Canada's forests. He is known internationally for his leadership in industrial and urban environment, health and safety policy and practices. During his ten years as President & C.E.O. of the World Environment Center, he worked closely with the senior environmental and corporate social responsibility executives of dozens of multinational companies, such as Alcoa, BP, Dow, DuPont, Ford, GM, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Nortel, Pfizer and Westvaco. Prior to that, he worked in manufacturing, capital project development and telecommunications consulting engineering in the U.S., Canada, Europe and the Middle East.

In 1997, Marcil was included in the first worldwide listing of the Top 100 Figures in Environment, Sustainable Development and Social Issues by The Earth Times, a New York and Geneva-based news magazine serving the international organizations community. In 2001-2002 he served as Planner-in-Residence at the School of Planning, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, University of Waterloo as a break from a five-year commitment to tax and fiscal reform.

He is very active in his community, serving on the Steering Committees of the Don Valley West One-Tonne Challenge and the Good Health Through Good Governance Working Group and as Chair, Advisory Board, Todmorden Heritage Museum and Arts Centre. He speaks French, Spanish and Farsi, has been a guest lecturer at corporations, government agencies, universities, foundations and U.N. bodies around the world. He has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and an M.B.A. in finance and accounting
